Morgan Ray was born in Utah and lived in Salt Lake City until the age of eighteen when she moved to the San Francisco Bay Area. She spent her career as a writer/producer for film and video before returning to Salt Lake City with her wife, Jonna, in 2015. Now that her time is her own, she writes poetry. Her poems are informed as much by her life in San Francisco during extraordinary times—the Jonestown massacre, the assassinations of Harvey Milk and George Moscone and the AIDS epidemic—as they are by her Salt Lake upbringing. Her poems have appeared in online and print journals and she has published two books of poetry, most recently a book of postcard poems entitled Unsolicited Greetings (2023). She is working on her third book.
